This is one of the best articles I have found while researching this topic. Everything he says is completely true which is upsetting but it's right!

It's so important..

Being a journalism/communication major, the newspaper is a big part of my own life. It sounds weird to certain people, but the newspaper is where I got my dreams from.

I've loved writing since I was as young as I could remember. Around the time I was in high school, is when I realized I wanted to be a reporter/writer for the newspaper.

My junior year, I had an internship for the Post-Gazette in Downtown, Pittsburgh. From then on, I knew what I wanted to do. My goal was to go to school for journalism and try for a job at a local newspaper, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

If the newspaper dies, there goes everything I wanted and worked for since high school.

I'm sure I am not the only one who wants to write for a newspaper, either in Pittsburgh or another city. What about writing for the New York Times? If the newspaper dies, those dreams are gone because job cuts will happen. If job cuts happen, they won't be able to hire new writers.

Do we really want to lose everything we worked so hard for these last couple years???

Why throw away something old, when it's so important to us?

 The first newspaper was published in 1620 in Amsterdam. Since then a ridiculous number of newspaper have been published all around the world. 

Newspapers have been our way of life. The way the media has delivered the news to the public. 

Technology is improving and changing everyday right before our eyes. But the newspaper still stays around. 

But that does not mean it will stay around forever, which means a lot could change around here. Losing the newspaper means losing a part of history we all grew up knowing. Yeah sure, you can say "it will always be there still", "we can save a few copies so that future generations still know what it is", or "we can still teach it in our schools", "it will always be history". NO! If the newspaper dies, it's gone. It will be forgotten, forever.. 

Losing the newspaper, also means losing potential jobs. We have people right now who work on layouts of newspaper, even printing the newspaper to be delivered on your front porch every Sunday morning. So that means we ever have people who job is too transport the newspaper. If the internet gets any bigger, the newspaper will disappear. Sure we can get our news from the internet, it's so much easier. Right? 

Yeah it is easier. But every once in a while, it's better to hold that newspaper in your hand. Take it to class and use a couple articles for reference, instead of wasting paper to print out an article from the internet. 

SAVE THE NEWSPAPER!!!!! Before it's too late...
